The Role: 

As the Lead Graphic Designer, you will play an integral role in how The Bay shows up in the world. You will be designing for both emails and the bay.com as well as leading the Bangalore design team’s execution for these channels. This role will work closely with the Canadian design team to ensure all work ladders back up to the overall brand and campaign(s) with best practices always top of mind. This role requires a dynamic leader who can manage people, work, and process, balance overall workloads, resolve resource conflicts and coordinate with other teams. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Design emails and site banners to support The Bay.
  • Overseeing, and leading the day-to-day of the production design team in Bangalore, India who also will be executing content for these channels. 
  • Leading the team through any fast-track or course-corrected projects that come in outside of the process. 
  • Work closely with the Canadian production design team to ensure the integrity of creative concepts is kept in focus throughout all assets produced.
  • Assign all projects and briefs to the design team, and provide clear design direction and templates when required.
  • Vetting all content in marketing briefs ahead of assigning. 
  • Ensure proper sign-offs and feedback is provided throughout all stages of the process, and all work built by the team is closely vetted and reviewed. 
  • Execute top-quality design work in line with The Bay’s standards across a variety of mediums that support The Bay’s marketing efforts.
  • Use effective time management and organization skills to maintain an effective workflow to ensure all deadlines are met.
  • Ensure all creative transfers effectively into French language and bilingual versions.
  • Build a strong rapport with members of the team you support, in addition to partnering with functional and operations leadership and/or key vendors. 

 

Requirements & Skills

  • A degree in Graphic Design or an equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job. 
  • 7+ years of experience in graphic design in a marketing or agency environment.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite on a Mac platform (Photoshop, Illustrator, XD, etc.). Figma experience is a plus.
  • Previous experience with email Triggers and Personalization is a plus.
  • Proven ability to produce high-quality creative work and have an acute understanding of design, including typography and layout.
  • Knowledge and a good understanding of Motion graphic skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of the digital environment - including files, formats and best practices.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Previous experience leading a team.
  • Experience with automation tools and/or platforms to drive efficiency is a plus.
  • Understanding of UX/UI is a bonus.
  • Able to take a concept and translate the big idea to owned channels.
  • Move with agility and can pivot quickly to increase speed to market.
  • Balance and lead multiple projects on the go at once.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Retail background experience is a plus.
  • Exhibit great communication and organizational skills.
  • You’re a creative problem solver with an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Seeks to improve process and template standardization.
  • Eager to coach and inspire the production design team.
