Day In The Life:

The DVP, UX: Design, Strategy & Research for The Bay will play a critical role in driving the digital experience vision across our platform (Marketplace, Core, App & Loyalty) to deliver a world-class customer experience. You will oversee all aspects of research, product design, design strategy, and content design/UX writing of our digital platform. This role will empower you to shape human-centered design processes to influence the strategic directions and to support the organization in understanding, valuing and applying customer-centric design thinking.

Who You Are:

As a thought leader, you are an evangelist of great experiences, eager to elevate our design practice, quality of outcomes, and drive customer-centricity across teams, from concept to final product. As an experienced people leader, you are interested in empowering your teams through a compelling customer experience vision, strategy and success metrics, that will influence the strategic product roadmap across the end-to-end customer journey. You have the ability to manage diverse teams consisting of multiple disciplines and spread over multiple geographies. Ability to forge a strong sense of connection between the team and other disciplines such as Product and Engineering (the Trifecta). And lastly, you are an experienced people leader with extensive design experience in either ecommerce, agency, or software as a service (SaaS) platforms. We’re looking for a Senior UX leader to set the strategy, vision, and direction for the UX practice at The Bay.

 

What You Will Do:

  • This senior position is a key role, reporting directly to the VP: Digital Experiences, and requires a naturally engaging storyteller and mentor who empowers their leaders, embraces complex problems, and motivates their teams to deliver the best experiences for our customers
  • Lead, coach and inspire a team of Leaders across the UX discipline, whilst supporting the development of the team as a whole
  • Partner closely with cross-functional leaders in Product and Engineering, not only to shape Product strategy at the leadership level, but also to build strong, distributed processes that empower all teams to build quality experiences at scale
  • Oversee digital applications, experiences, products, and services that balance user needs, business objectives, and technological constraints
  • Provide leadership to develop digital interface patterns and systems that are durable, repeatable and set a new standard for The Bay
  • You will champion simple, elegant experiences and holds the entire UX organization accountable to a high quality bar
  • Motivates and encourages triefca pods (Product | UX | Engineering) to find creative ways to ship; frequently delivering value with quality using a Agile Scrum methodology
  • Use of both qualitative and quantitative research to make informed decisions

What You Will Need:

  • 10+ years’ experience in relevant industries, harnessing  professional digital design experience and practice to lead teams at scale
  • 5+ years leading a design and/or UX teams, a Leader of Leaders
  • Strong leadership portfolio that demonstrates vision, design practice creation, measurement and evolution
  • A track record of leading teams to drive user experiences that solve human problems and drive business outcomes
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills, able to tailor communication style to different stakeholders including non-technical audiences and can coach others to improve effectiveness of communication
  • Lead by coaching and mentoring leaders & individual contributors, being invested in each team member’s success by sharing skills and knowledge to strengthen and foster growth across the team
  • The ideal candidate will have in-depth experience in building UX teams and Design Systems at scale, as well as hired and mentored high-achieving Designers
  • Positive and resilient personality and can embrace feedback and have desire for continuous iteration and improvement
  • Lastly, they will have experience partnering closely with senior leadership, including C-suite
