Day In The Life:

As Manager EDI (Electronic Data Interchange), you will be the primary liaison between vendors and The Bay to ensure vendors are integrated with The Bay’s EDI requirements while leading a team to facilitate The Bay’s EDI requirements. This includes vendor onboarding, testing, monitoring and validating all required EDI transactions to ensure vendors can ship and invoice electronically. The Manager will also be responsible for the strategic development of The Bay’s EDI compliance program, to ensure all vendor’s are compliant and any problem receipts are actioned swiftly.  

This role will actively support our DE&I (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion) framework by identifying opportunities to increase the diversity of our products and brands.  They will lead with inclusion to nurture our OneTeam culture by removing barriers for our Associates and communities.


What You Will Do:

  • Lead The Bay’s EDI team (total 5) to test, onboard and manage all EDI interchanges between The Bay and the Vendor
  • Work with OpenText (The Bay’s VAN service)
  • Liase with vendors (which may include on site visits) to understand the shipping and receiving process and fix any discrepancies
  • Reduce the number of ASN failures by implementing strategic initiatives
  • Educate both merchants and vendors to better understand HBC EDI requirements and offer guidance and expertise to the vendor community
  • Oversee testing, implementation, and production support of all EDI transaction sets with vendor base.
  • Facilitate smooth transition to an EDI trading partnership by participating in conversations between merchants and vendors 
  • Target non-EDI compliant vendors with high receipts to become EDI compliant so merchandise can process more efficiently
  • Analyze and validate No/Late ASN chargebacks
  • Daily monitoring and troubleshooting of electronic transmissions. Work cooperatively with Accounts Payable, IT, vendors, DC Operations, and merchants to achieve long term resolutions to errors
  • Target non-EDI compliant vendors with high receipts to become EDI compliant so merchandise can process more efficiently
  • Collaborate with Accounts Payable to test electronic invoices and provide feedback on all electronic invoice issues i.e. duplicate invoice issues


What You Will Need:

  • 3+ Years of previous EDI experience a must
  • Experience managing a team or projects
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong drive for results with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Able to think strategically, identify problems, develop practical solutions, and guide their implementation 
  • Interpersonal savvy: work effectively with all levels of management, generating confidence and building trust
  • Strong technical skills (EDI Translators, Excel, Word and Google Docs/Sheets a strong asset)
  • Technical proficiency of UPC and EDI transactions, and WMOS systems
  • Knowledgeable of Opentext VAN service
  • Business knowledge of Logistics and Supply Chain an asset
